Vibration measurement

Problems with unwanted low-frequency or high-frequency vibrations? Our experienced technicians and engineers support our clients by conducting extensive vibration measurements anywhere in the world.

Working with the client’s own specialists, we carry out local vibration measurement and modal analysis using state-of-the-art equipment such as frequency analysers and ultrasensitive microphones. The results provide information about the isolation and damping performance of the elastomeric mounts used as well as the entire wind turbine. This information can be used to check and optimize the elements installed.

In addition, vibration measurement serves to identify the causes and transmission pathways of unwanted structure-borne noise (high-frequency vibrations). This is a vital step to enable tuned mass dampers to be used successfully.

After vibration measurement, clients naturally receive a measurement report clearly setting out and summarizing all the important points.

Our experts are qualified in compliance to Global Wind Organisation (GWO) for onshore operations in GWO Working at Heights, GWO Fire Awareness, GWO Manual Handling, GWO First Aid. In addition they are qualified for Offshore operations in GWO Sea Survival.

Product development

Developing innovative products is a key part of ESM’s philosophy. As a vibration control specialist with many years of experience, we tackle the challenges faced by our clients. Whether from project inception or at a later stage during troubleshooting, we work closely with our clients to develop tailored vibration control components.  

Development begins with a theoretical examination of the complete vibration control system and subsystems by means of multi-body simulation, strength calculations using the finite element method (FEM), and practical tests of materials and products on static and servo-hydraulic test benches.

To gain operational experience, some of our new developments are tested under real conditions in our own wind turbines. Using our measuring equipment, we can monitor our installed prototypes 24 hours a day. This enables us to offer our clients the highest standards of quality and safety.
