// ESM gear bearings are designed for self-supporting gears. Their purpose is to transmit all forces arising on the rotor to the frame gently and without shocks. They also isolate the structure-borne noise arising in the gear. So far, these bearings have been installed in wind turbines up to an output of 3.6 MW.

Torque Supports

Multi-layer sandwich mount

Gearbox support for 2,5-MW-turbine
The ESM multi-layer sandwich mount isolates the structure-borne noise by a parallel layer system with multiple rubber layers. The number of layers varies depending on the type of mount.

These layers can transfer high compression forces with extremely small transversal stiffness:
  • For higher loads several components could be connected in parallel
  • To compensate for assembly tolerances, ESM has also developed multi-layer sandwich mounts which are adjustable
Various sizes are available to suit different turbine sizes and types.

Torque support for up to 6 MW

Operating deformations up to 15 mm can be absorbed by this very soft torque support.

The vertical stiffness is very low. The component can briefly bear extreme forces higher than 3,500 kN.
