4-Point-Suspension
Not exclusively, but especially for bigger turbinesFour-point-suspension (also known as double rotor suspension or separated design) is characterized by a main shaft suspension, which consists of one momentum bearing or two separated main bearings (see top picture). Weight forces as well as yawing and nodding moments from the rotor are completely transferred to the main frame by the main bearing system. The torque supports, which are arranged at the gearbox, only have to carry the driving torque. The essential advantage of this assembly is the prevention of launching weight forces as well as yawing and nodding moments from the rotor to the gearbox. Moreover, gearbox exchange is comparatively easy. The main snag of this design is its overdetermination, which leads to constraint forces in the gearbox. ESM has developed various torque supports which decrease constraint forces. The most efficient way to minimize constraint forces is by using hydraulic gearbox supports. As well as the gearbox support, ESM provides a wide range of adapted products for this type of drive train. In addition to generator mounts, cover mounts and decoupling components are also used for pitch control. Noise and other unwanted vibrations are damped with our mass dampers. |
